Abstract: In order to solve the problems such as low performance,
security limitation, and deploymentª²difficulty of new protocols in implementing the
basic mobile IP protocol, an extended mobile IP protocol is implemented on an active
network prototype£Softnet. The Softnet has the feature of dynamic loading of the mobile
agents that dynamically extends functions of the active node. Routing tables for the
extended mobile protocol are maintained using a re-directional active network
encapsulation protocol. The performance of the mobile IP is improved and the limitation
caused by security conside-ration is also eliminated by integrating mobile-IP routing,
normal node routing and tunneling techniques.
