Design of RP Support Structure

Abstract: The design of supports for rapid prototyping of the stereolithography process can greatly affect the accuracy of RP products. The classification of support area and technique based on STL model are studied. Cross-shaped support, single-wall support with vertical plate, inclined plate support, contoured support and free single-wall support etc. are considered with the objective of enhancing the prototype accuracy by a procedure of optimization based on research results and support design rules.
