Abstract: The aerodynamic characteristics are analysed for a cold model of 360MW W-shape flame boiler with impellerless-flat burner made by Stein Co.of France to provide scientific proofs for the operation and design.Presented are velocity distribution of the W-shape air flow for different operating conditions and air flow rate under optimum operating condition. The hot-wire anemometer is used to measure the air flow rate. Regularities of air flow velocity distri bution, air flow fullness, air flow path and flue gas velocity deviation are analysed to determine the aerodynamic characteristics of the furnace. The results show that the optimum air flow rate is M1: M2: M3: M4: M5=1:19:0.2:1.4:3.6~1:38:0.2:1.4:3.6; and flame short is difficult to happen in this boiler. The structure defaults of the boiler are also pointed out.
