Relation between Properties and Structures for Organobentonites

Abstract: The microstructure and morphology of organobentonite are examined by X  ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, differentialthermal analysis and electromicroscope. The rheological property of organobentonites is investigated by experiment on gelatinizing and thixotropy behavior. The results show that large value of d(001) tends to enhance oilphilic property while severe deformation of lattice corresponds to large change of fluidity.Long length of carbon chain requires a higher temperature of decomposition. Also the construction, length and polarity of carbon chain of organism, particle size of organobentonites and polarity of solvent have an significant effect on thegelatiness of organobentonites.
