Performance of DC-DC Converter Using Variable Structure Control Approach

Abstract: A switched capacitor network is combined with the conventional Cuk DC-DC converter.A variable structure control approach is adopted to change the order of the series-parallel capacitor set with the input voltage of the converter, therefore, the converter can have a high efficiency within a rather wide input voltage range. The topology of a switched capacitor(SC) DC-DC converter is also changed with the input voltage of the converter. This solves the contradiction between the efficiency and the input voltage range of the SC converter. Experiment results show that the approach is feasible.
