Method for Preprocessing of Fingerprints Image

Abstract: Extracting minutiae and identification fingerprints rely heavily on preprocessing of fingerprints image. A new method is proposed that is based on detection of roof edge. The skeleton of ridge is obtained using local extremum of maximum along the direction of maximum main curvature, while the orientation flow field along the direction of minimum main curvature is synchronized. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm were tested for different fingerprint images.
