Abstract:  Removal of water from steam turbine stationary blades by suction slots could prevent and/or reduce erosion of last-stage rotational blades of steam turbine. Experiments are made to determine the suction slot width affecting the water removal efficiency from plate hollow stationary blades. Different conditions are considered for a gasª²water film (two-phase flow). The results show that the water removal efficiency does not always increase simply with the slot width. A lower water removal efficiency is obtained for slot width in the range 1.0¡«1.5¡¡mm
