Fractal Characteristics and Computer Simulation of the Discharge Channel in SF₆ Gas

Abstract: The physical mechanism of breakdown in SF₆ is invoked to study the propagation of the discharge channel by using the finite element method.The fractal dimension of the discharge figure is calculated according to the fractal geometry. The results show that the initial electrical field and inner electrical field are important for developing discharge model; they also agree well with experiments.
