Abstract:The history and the performance evaluation method for refrigerants are briefly
described.The current and potential alternatives to CFC12 used in refrigerators are
extensively discussed. Furthermore, the current research,especially of our research
group,on HFCs mixtures and ethers as alternatives is summarized.Considering environment
acceptability and refrigeration performance,the refrigerant mixture of HFC152a/HFC125
proposed by our group has obvious advantages as the refrigerant in refrigerators.
