Novel Algorithm of Carrier Frequency Offset Estimation for Correlative Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Systems

Abstract: A new data-aided carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation algorithm was proposed for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The algorithm estimates CFO by exploiting the characteristics of correlative coded OFDM systems in the frequency domain, which increases the tracking range of CFO. Meanwhile,CFO estimation error caused by intercarrier interference is removed by using an improved iterative residual CFO estimation method. Simulation results show that the algorithm outperforms traditional data-aided estimation algorithms,the tracking range is increased to (-1,1) and the variance of CFO estimate is visibly improved at higher signal to noise ratios.
