Abstract:In order to effectively manage the underlying resources that Web services rely on,a generic service management mechanism which can integrate Web services-based management with traditional management architectures CIM (common information model) was proposed. The SLA(service level agreement) monitoring process of service management was decomposed into deployment service, measurement service, condition evaluation service, and management service. In addition, the best solution for carrying out these services was given. To achieve management interoperability between Web services and CIM, the mapping between SLA parameters and resource metrics was created. SLA from Web services environment was configurated as CIM object manager (CIMOM) and measurements from CIMOM was transmitted back to the Web service. Furthermore, the active resource agent which can retrieve metric values automatically from managed resources was created, and SLA parameters without being triggered by an external client was calculated, thus the overhead was reduced remarkably. The simulation results show that the mechanism can improve the capability of service monitor and management in distributed systems.
