Analysis on Running Process of Permanent Linear Synchronous Motors with Discontinuous Stators

Abstract:Based on the structure characteristics and operation principle of permanent magnet linear synchronous motors (PMLSM) with discontinuous stators,a simulation model was developed.The operation process of a prototype was simulated and analyzed.The variability of electromagnetic thrust during the process of the mover movement and the methods to stabilize the thrust were investigated. It is revealed that the electromagnetic thrust behaves more stably if the space between adjacent stator windings is arranged in the integral multiple fundamental wave-length of magnetic field,the valid length of the mover is integral multiple of the distance between the central axes of adjacent stators,and the corresponding currents are identical at the same phases.If the space between adjacent stator windings is not equal to the integral multiple fundamental wave-length of magnetic field,the stable thrust can be achieved by adjusting the stator currents?initial phases.
