Abstract:The scattering of shear horizontal (SH) waves in a layered composites with weakly bonded interfaces was discussed by using the shear spring model of infirm interface and the theories of elastic waves, and also the analytical solution was obtained. The numerical example results show that with different locations of infirm interfaces, there are great differences between the coefficients of reflection and transmission of SH waves incidencing at a given angle in layered composites. With the changing of the parameter of the interface mechanical properties, the evident difference can be seen from the curves of incident angle vs coefficients of reflection or transmission. It is confirmed that not only the mechanical properties, but the location of the infirm interfaces can be determined according to scattering law of SH waves in layered composites with infirm interfaces. The results will provide a technique foundation to ultrasonic nondestructive test of layered composites with infirm interfaces.
