Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop of High Saturation Temperature Organic Fluid in a
Horizontal Smooth Tube Yang Dong,Li Bin,Chen Tingkuan (State Key Laboratory of Multiphase Flow in Power Engineering,Xi'an Jiaotong University,Xi'an 710049,China) Abstract:An experimental study of heat transfer and pressure drop during condensation of high saturation temperature organic fluid (cumene) in a horizontal smooth tube was conducted.The experiments were carried out at a saturation temperature about 195¡æ,mass velocities varying from 104 to 375 kg/£¨mª¬2·s£©, and exit vapor quality between 0.05 and 0.19. The experimental results indicate that the pressure drop increases with increasing vapor quality,and the heat transfer coefficient decreases with increasing vapor quality. The prediction indicates that the flow pattern of gas-liquid two-phase flow during condensation is mainly annular flow. The predictions from other two models obtained from the experiments with low saturation temperature fluids (refrigerants) show that the Haraguchi model predicts the experimental pressure drops with an average deviation of -21.7%, and the Traviss model predicts the experimental heat transfer coefficients within a deviation of -20%. The obtained results provide new data for the condensing database, and can be applied in the design of heat exchanger in petrochemical industry.
