Abstract: A construction of M band interpolatory wavelet packets is presented based on the theory of multiresolution analysis, and an algorithm of decomposing the M band interpolation operator is provided by synthesising these wavelet packets. Aimed at a practical problem, the decomposition can be applied to analyze the sampling data structure and to design the interpolatory scheme. A type of Mband interpolation operator is obtained, which is suitable to the case of Mnot less than 3, and has the same interpolatory points as the interpolation operator given by traditional method even for 2 band situation.
