External Sensors Ultra High Frequency Partial Discharge Detection of GIS

Abstract:Aiming at the broadband feature of electromagnetic wave of partial discharge(PD) pulse excited in gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear(GIS), a new type ultra high frequency(UHF) PD detection frequency independent ultra wide band antenna was designed, which realized impedance-match between antenna and signal transmission line by infinite balun. An external sensors£¨antenna£©UHF detection system of PD consisted of antenna, wide band amplifier, digital stored oscillograph and computer is used to detecte and locate the partial discharge of fixed protrusion of GIS. The experimental results show that this type antenna can meet the need of PD UHF measure, and the system can detect and locate conveniently PD in GIS.
