Abstract:A new type linear compressor was presented, which could be widely used in refrigerators and air conditioners. Employing a linear reluctance motor, the compressor has simple configuration, high efficiency, and easy to be controlled. The simulation of the compressor working process and behavior of the valves were carried out with two different refrigerants R134a and R600a£®The performance of the compressor and piston force were calculated, which would help the linear compressor design. It seems that this type of linear compressor is a good substitute for conventional reciprocating compressors in refrigeration and air conditioning.
