Fluorophlogopite-Filled Epoxy Resin Composites

Abstract:Some new composites were obtained by adding the standard and modified fluorophlogopite flakes into epoxy resin respectively, and their mechanical properties were tested in different conditions. Their microstuctures and morphology were investigated by SEM technique. Furthermore, the relationships between the characteristics and mass fraction of fluorophlogopite and their mechanical properties were studied. The results show that the composites filled with modified fluorophlogopite have excellent flexural properties. When the mass fraction of modified fluorophlogopite is 10%, the flexural strength of the composite increases by 50% and its flexural modulus increases by 100%. However, in contrast to the modified fillers, the standard ones make flexural strength decrease dramatically.
