Abstract：To increase the agility of contemporary enterprises and reinforce the adaptability of workflow management system (WfMS) for the changes in business processes. a knowledge-based agile workflow system model is proposed. The frame structure and knowledge representation of the workflow model are discussed in detail. By usinjg knowledge representation scheme and dependency predicates, a change propagation mechanism is provided to increase the soundness and flexibility of workflow system. Lastly, this idea is applied to the development of process planning management system for some large steam turbine plant, a knowledge-based model for the overalls design process is built. The results show that knowledge-based workflow system model is valuable for application in implementing the automated business process.
