Abstract:The synthesis and properties of the graft copolymer of acrylamide and
chitosan (CAM)were studied. The 50%~99% acrylamide in graft copolymers were made with
nitrogen and ammonium persulfate as indicator. The properties of flocculating, absorption
of heavy metal ions, zeta potential and application for wasted water in papermaking were
tested. The results show that the graft copolymer CAM are negative polymer electrolytes,
and the absorption rate of the graft copolymer for Pb(Ⅱ),Cd(Ⅱ) ions is much higher
than that of the chitosan. The graft copolymer also has strong ability of flocculation for
wasted water in papermaking.
