Empirical Formula for Thrust Bearing Based on Similarity Theory of NonDimensional

Abstract:According to the dimensional similarity theory, by using the
linear regression method, the nondimensional empirical similarity correlation is set up
to quantitatively simulate the lubrication performances of thrust bearing, on the base of
the experiment lial data of thrust bearing test equipment. Moreover, the maximum
temperature raise of pad, the maximum oil film pressure and the minimum oil film thickness
for the huge thrust bearing in China Three-Gorge hydroelectric generating set are
predicted. The results show that the data calculated by using empirical correlation is
basically matched with that calculated by using three-imensional thermohydrodynamic
lubrication theory. Since the similar conditions between the practice and experiment
bearing were not completely satisfied, thereby certain error of predicting results exists.
