Flow Stability and Flow Patterns of Gas-Liquid Flow in Vertical Rectified
Inverse U Tube

Abstract:The fairing rings are built in the inlet and outlet of the
vertical parts of inverse U bend respectively in order to restrain the effect of
bend on the flow in it. By the numerical calculation of single-phase flow and the
experimental results of two-phase flow it is found that the fairing rings can increase the
flow stbility of gas-liquid flow. The same results are found by the flow pat-tern
distributions of inverse U bend experimentally. It was found that the
intermittent flow region (the region of slug flow and churn flow) of upward flow in
vertical inverse U bend is smal-ler and the annular region is larger than that in
long straight tube.
