Experimental Investigation on Unsteady Rotor/Stator Interaction in a Cylindrical Tank Using Particle Image Velocimeter

Abstract:The unsteady interaction between rotor and stator in a cylindrical tank is measured using particle image velocimeter(PIV) under different rotating speeds and different relative location between the blade and the stator. A assemblyaveraged technique is utilized to eliminate the influence of random disturbance in experiment. Results show that there are strong rotor/stator interactions in the cylindrical tank. It can be seen from the assembly-averaged velocity profile that the location of the vortex in the tank changes with the relative location of rofor and stators. With the rotate speed increase, the vortex in the stator is effected weakly by the shift between the rotor and stator.
