Abstract:In distributed multi-objective power systems based on renewable
energy, hydrogen will be used as energy carrier. Two schemes for hydrogen production were
suggested and the sub-systems were structured and introduced. In these schemes, hydrogen
is produced either from water by direct photoelectrochemical splitting methods based on
solar energy, or from biomass and water by thermochemical splitting method based on waste
heat in industries or solar conecntrating thermal energy. Hydrogen production equipment
for both methods was established in our laboratory, and systematical studies on the
gasification efficiency, chemical reaction mechanism and dynamics have being completed.
Hydrogen production sub-systems can be combined with high temperature fuel cells, micro
gas turbine or integrate all the technologies into a hybrid system. The hybrid system
complemented with cooling-heating-humidity control sub-system will produce hydrogen,
electricity, heat, cool and work. The theories and technologies for high efficiency, low
cost and pllution-free hydrogen production schemes based on renewable energy were
discussed and analyzed. Some new experimental results about hydrogen production are
reported.
