
Modeling and Molding Methods of Individual Ized Bones Based on
Rapid Prototyping

Abstract: In order to improve the speed and accuracy of designing and
manufacturing of individ-uaized bones, shorten the waiting time of patients and advance
the extent of shape matching, a new molding method of artificial bones which needs no
surface reconstruction, is introduced to shape the model of individuaized bones directly
by rapid prototyping, that is ,to convert the data of slice images to the data of the
contours of cross-sections and make the solid model by rapid prototyping.The shape of
the model can be modified after it is manufactured. The results show that the method has
the advantages of rapidness and accurateness which are very important for individuaized
bones.
