
Gravitational Instability and Condensation Effect of Dust Plasma

Abstract: On the basis of fundamental equations of dust plasma, the
influence of selfgravitation or gravity of the dust particles on the macroscopic
dynamics of dust plasma is investigated by using the noneq uilibrium dynamical method. It
is shown that there is a condensation effect in dust plasma that caused by the
gravitational instability, so that the density increases locally. This condensation effect
may be related to the forma tion of the molecular clouds in interstellar media and
proto-stars, as well as may influence the plasma processing in the laboratory. The
conditions for producing the condensation effect and its characteristics are analysed in
detail.
