Abstract: Digital watermarking technology has been
proposed as an effective method to protect the copyright of multimedia data. An adaptive
watermarking algorithm of image based on fuzzy set theory that in discrete cosine
transform (DCT) domain is proposed. By exploiting the visual masking and texture
characteristics of human visual system (HVS) and considering the properties of the
original image, a two?dimension fuzzy controller is designed, whose inputs are parameters
of gray and texture of the original image. The strength of embedded watermarks is decided
by the rules of fuzzy controller. It ensures the strength of the watermark adapting to the
image itself entirely.The experimental results show that the watermarks generated with the
proposed algorithm are invisible and robust against noise such as guassian, salt-pepper
noise, and commonly used imageprocessing methods such as JPEG, crop procession-etc.
