Abstract: The mechanism of polymeric reaction of pyrrole with benzaldehyde, vanilin, p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde and p-nitrobenzaldehyde was studied by using inª²situ UV-Vis spectroscopy, respectively. The results indicate that the synthesis reactions of poly£Ûpyrrolyl methines£Ý using pyrrole with aldehydes are zero order reactions. The rate of polymeric reacti
on is only related to the concentration of acid. The withdrawª²electron group on the phenyl ring can accelerate the polymeric reaction, and the large steric hindrance group will decrease the reaction rate.
