Abstract: The influence of lubricant thermal effect on the bearing dynamics is studied. A method for calculating the nonlinearoil film forces condidering the thermal effects is proposed. The mean temperature of lubricant calculated according to thermal balance is adopted in transient analysis of the rotor. Thinking a two-lobe-bearing for example, through a transient analysis of the journal bearings with thermal effects, the journal center's orbits are evaluated, and are compared with those obtained without thermal effects. Comparison shows that influence of the thermal effects on the dynamic performance of the bearing are important. Considering the mean temperature of lubricant can improve the accuracy of transient analysis.
