Abstract:In the light of that the most disadvantage of plastic optical
fiber (POF) was larger absorption loss, different kinds of loss factors were analyzed.
Light absorption loss due to CH high harmonics vibrations in PMMA POF was calculated and
simulated. And the Rayleigh scattering absorption loss and electronic transition
absorption losswere quantitatively calculated. So intrinsic loss spectrum of PMMA POF was
obtatined. The intrinsic absorption losses at different wavelengths were first calculated,
and the results were consistent with measured data available in literature. It provided an
important theoretical basis gist to reduce POF's loss.
