Multidisciplinary Materials Research Center (MMRC) was established in March 2003. This new center is the first research center in China that puts emphasis on interdisciplinary research, aiming to foster multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research in China. The establishment of MMRC in China is based on the important fact that important discoveries and breakthroughs originate most often from the border of different knowledge or a combination of different knowledge. An important feature of our MMRC is its international atmosphere. We have internationally distinguished scientists as our members and they actively participate in research and supervise our students. We also send our students and young researchers abroad to carry out international joint research between MMRC and foreign partners.

      The scope of our research includes, but not restricted to, physical, chemical, mechanical aspects of various materials with emphasis on functional properties of various materials and atomic or nano-level phenomena. Our members and students come from different schools and departments.
